Task A

Radar-based precipitation nowcasting at European scale for hazard assessment

Objective: The goal of this task is to consolidate the tools for nowcasting precipitation at European scale developed in the previous EU Civil protection project EDHIT. Fundamentally, the tasks will focus on solving some problems affecting the OPERA radar mosaics identified during the evaluation period of the EDHIT project. In parallel, this task will analyse the quality of the Quantitative Precipitation Estimates (QPE) by comparison with the reference products used by the partners of the project in their areas of interest.

Action A.1: Maintenance activities of the module for precipitation nowcasting based on OPERA radar mosaics.

Action A.2: Assessment of the quality of OPERA precipitation estimates.
