SP Leader: HYDS
Partners involved: HYDS, UPC-CRAHI, ULANC, WSL, JRC, MeteoSwiss, UPC-GITS, VERZASCA S.A., GLARUS,  AET, SCHAPI,  AdBDxSele,  ACA, EGMASA

Objective:  Development of a prototype of the operational FF & DF forecasting platform, including the tools and methodologies developed in the SPs 1-4, following the specifications identified in WP6. The goal of this integrated forecasting system is to assist the practitioners in all tasks related to the management and dissemination of information and alerts related to FF/DF events. Furthermore, the system shall support the development of SPs 1-4 providing visualization tools as well as the operational tests to becarried out in SP8.

Task 7.1: Design of the general platform in which all the tools will be developed following the specifications provided by SP6. Specification of the underlying database, translation of incoming data to a general data format, and construction of a master data base. Development of a visualization tool following the user specifications as defined in SP 6 [HYDS].

Task 7.2: Implementation of the module for rainfall fields ensemble generation (accounting for uncertainties in measurements and in forecasting) and the merging with NWP ensembles [HYDS, and participants in SP 1].

Task 7.3: Implementation of the module for the identification of areas of high potential risk/vulnerability in FF/debris-flow generating events [HYDS, and participants in SP 2]..

Task 7.4: Implementation of the module for the probabilistic FF & DF early warning system defined in D.2.4 [HYDS, and
participants in WP 2].

Task 7.5: Implementation of the module for the advanced probabilistic FF & DF forecasting system [HYDS, and participants in SP 3].

Task 7.6: Implementation of the module for the rule-based probabilistic FF & DF forecasting system [HYDS, and participants in SP 4].

Task 7.7: Incorporation of the feed-backs and improvement suggestions from the test exercise in SP8 into an improved version of the platform [HYDS, and participants in SP 8].
